Where do I even begin to describe Cannes Film Festival. I was one of the lucky ones, along with 39 other students from Anglia Ruskin, we travelled to Nice for 5 days to see one of the world most prestigious film festivals. And boy did it live up to expectation.

On May 18th we flew from Stansted airport to Nice, for me the exciting thing was flying, it intense, because I had never flown before, as I had never left the country and to be able to say my first holiday was to the south of France was a privilege, I  will never let go off.  The Monday night was spent exploring Nice where our hotel was located, the hotel was called Hotel Azurea

and we were close to Nice Ville train station, so we spent the evening just exploring and eventually settling for Subway. The second day was a trial and error event at film screenings, as we had the unfortunate luck at being in the only screening where the Russian film was translated in french subtitles and not English, easy mistake to make, so instead we went to Cannes beach, checking out the action, my god I have never seen something so beautiful, the city is enriched with so much culture, we met people from all over the world. That night in Nice we shared a pizza but we explored the french convenience stores a lot, stocking up on water and chocolate. I was lucky to be sharing a room with a close friend and we both liked the same food, so the fridge was well stocked. Wednesday was Monaco sightseeing, we went to Eze, Monaco and St-Laurent-du-Var, the sights we spectacular, never in my life have I experienced such a beautiful culture, enticed with so much history, I must of took about 500 photos that day. By this point food wasn't an issue because it was so expensive at breakfast me and my friends were, using the free breakfast to make lunch and it actually saved us a lot of money. Thursday was Cannes film festival, for the films we actually spent hours queueing, although we had tickets, there was no guarantee we would get in because the important people go first then the general public, with student cinephile passes, we saw 'A Perfect Day' and 'The Here After’, of which we were actually watching the film with the producers and cast, the atmosphere in the room was electric and like nothing I've ever experienced, at the end of the film, the cast was honoured with a full round of applause that lasted for over ten minutes, the took their standing ovations, it was amazing. The Friday was a wind down, almost a bring back to reality, that we were going home so we spent some time on the beach and shopping, every single day was brilliant and I was honoured to go with some of my closet friends.
