The new me
It all started a few weeks back, after a huge shake up in my life, I wanted to continue to make positive reinforcements, so I asked myself an important question, who did I want to be and what look was I associating with my identity, how was I presenting myself. Well after a good, long hard look in the mirror I was ashamed to say my answer wasn't very good, I was drab, unkept and frankly my wardrobe belonged in the early 2000's, so I decided for a huge overhaul and that included looks, so eyebrows, make-up, clothes, shoes, accessories and today I'm going to focus on the make-up shake-up.
So before, my collection was pretty drab, almost as boring as nude eyeshadow, personal opinion, why would you want nude eye shadow? As laughable as it seems now, I didn't care if I went for weeks without wearing make-up, it wasn't necessary, I owned 2 mascara's, 2 eyeliner pencils, a tube of foundation, eyeshadow (yes one) and some lipgloss of which I felt that was enough.
However, after going through some kind of mid-life crisis at 20, I decided to go on a shopping spree, with the wonderful help from one of my closet friend, Rebecca, the make-up guru, she knew exactly what I needed and what would suit my skin tone and lucky for me hers is similar, pale (sorry Becca). So after a trip to boots and much cash spent later, this is what I ended up with...
A complete rehaul, make-up style.
So in the past few weeks I've really began to shake myself up, changing my look, I've wanted to do this for a long time, but I had never really had the courage until now.It all started a few weeks back, after a huge shake up in my life, I wanted to continue to make positive reinforcements, so I asked myself an important question, who did I want to be and what look was I associating with my identity, how was I presenting myself. It must seem pretty small right? But this for me was a huge step, because I finally wanted to try something new, so all this change was new for me and I really wanted it to be the start of something.
So what did I get?
- Studio lash look mascara, £3.49 from Boots. At such a wonderful price, I would recommend this product to anyone. It isn't clumpy, it separates the lashes and makes them extremely long and it has a sleek brush that makes applying it easy.
- Collection, eyes uncovered, nude palette, £3.99 from Boots. I know what your thinking, she slagged nude off, well I had a change of heart after Becca explained how I could use some of the colours to define my eyebrows and the selection of brown is amazing.
- Seventeen, Define and Conquer Contour kit, £4.99 from Boots. So in the media and social networking sphere, I frequently see how to contour videos and the people look almost unrecognisable, so I thought, why not, however unfortunately I haven't learnt this art, so I just look patchy brown, but this kit is amazing, it comes with a light and dark palette, of which both doesn't need to be used for contouring, but no doubt when I learn the art it will be.
- Collection, Eyebrow kit, Brunette, £3.99 from Boots and its my best ever investment, I am in love with this piece of magic. It comes with 3 different shades of powder, a arched brush and the most wonderful clear eyebrow mascara. I have recently been taught by Becca, the art of eyebrows, I had always been envious of how she did her make-up so perfect, so I had the courage to help, after Becca showed me how simple it was, I was simply addicted, I wanted the perfect eyebrows and I'm addicted with doing them, It is therapeutic and the mascara basically makes the hair stay in one direction, it is amazing and 100% RECOMMENDED.
- L'OREAL Paris, collection exclusive by J-Lo, Nude colour lipstick £6.99 from Boots. Funny enough it ended up being a nude colour and my most expensive make-up purchase, but I have always envied people who can pull of lipstick, so after being recommended to start of light, I invested in a little treat and now I wear everyday and I'm building up the look so eventually I can be bold and try out the, yes RED... But until then Nude will do.
- Seventeen, quicker, slicker colour nail varnish, Peacock colour, £2.99 from Boots. I am in love with blue and turquoise colours, so if anyone is also a fan I recommend you invest, its such a beautiful light colour, that works so well in the summer and so far I've had so many compliments about the colour, its easy to apply, lovely strong brush and quick drying.
- Ecotools make up brushes, £11.99 from Boots. I needed a new set of brushes, but I needed one that came with a strong eyebrow brush, contour brush, eyeshadow brush and this set was perfect, considering I had never spent that amount on make-up brushes, normally, mine came from Poundland, unless received as a gift, but these are perfect, they are strong, the fibres doesn't come out and simple to clean.
My collection has changed dramatically,

Really proud of the new set, hope it lasts a while now |
Now I just need it to last me say a year, to stop me from being poor, but everything was a worthy investment and has helped me on the path to self-confidence and shaking up my image.
